Guys! Can you believe it's already late August? Summer is hanging on by a thread.
To really soak in these last few weeks, we decided to plan a camping trip to Yosemite. Which, by the way, I am totally convinced is always a good idea... We had the best time! The park is oh so beautiful and there is endless exploring to be done.
Each day we woke up and had coffee by the campfire. There was something about making coffee over an open flame that was incredibly satisfying. Plus we had the cutest mugs to drink out of! We would then eat some breakfast, gather our things, and head out for the day.
We were hiking about 7-8 miles a day. If that's not impressive enough, let me remind you that we were hiking the SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN PEOPLE. I'm not bragging, just proud. But yeah, HOLY. SORE.
Anyway, the payoffs were totally worth it. We saw some breathtaking views of the entire park, got to swim in some of the cleanest (and coldest) water I've ever come across. And met some pretty awesome animals along the way. (No bears though, thank goodness).
Speaking of bears, I will say that although I loved my time in Yosemite, it is nice to be back home where going potty in the middle of the night is no longer incredibly frightening.
We cooked our dinners over the fire each night, which was a fairly new experience to all of us, but really fun and frankly darn delicious.
We went all out on Saturday night and made pasta, roasted broccolini, roasted green pepper, and toasted garlic bread. I think we spent the next 4 hours talking about how impressed we were with ourselves. *High fives*
Shockingly, I didn't take many food photos. But I promise it was there and it was good.
